The top positions in the Governor’s Office of Economic Development have been filled.

A day after his departure from the Sioux Falls Metro Growth Alliance was announced by the organization, Jesse Fonkert has been named deputy commissioner of the state’s primary economic development agency.

“Economic development and the growth of our state is something I am very passionate about,” Fonkert said Thursday. “I am most excited about working with industry leaders and communities in our state and helping execute the governor and commissioner’s vision for economic development in South Dakota.”
