A senior adviser to President Joe Biden who is being blamed for the president’s catastrophic debate performance last week has strong ties to South Dakota politics.
Biden senior adviser Anita Dunn and her husband, Robert Bauer, were on the team that spent days preparing Biden for his June 27 debate against former President Donald Trump, with Bauer playing the role as Trump. Biden limped through the 90-minute debate, repeatedly losing his train of thought and jumbling his words. His performance resulted in poll-number nose dives and Democratic angst about whether he should continue seeking reelection.
Biden family members and other Democrats have turned their ire on the prep team, according to a report in Politico.
