A renewed spirit of cooperation with the state is what it will take to address crumbling roads and public safety on South Dakota’s tribal reservations.
That was the message dozens of Native Americans carried with them to the state Capitol this week for the annual State of the Tribes address, a gathering that marked a visible show of recently rare grace between the governor’s office and tribal leaders.
