America’s 250th birthday is still nearly a year away, but South Dakotans have a chance to get the festivities kicked off early this week in Huron.

This year, the South Dakota State Fair is doubling as a celebration of the United States, partnering with the America250 initiative to mark the nation’s quincentennial anniversary.

“Celebrating America250 at the South Dakota State Fair is an opportunity for all of us to come together as proud Americans,” said South Dakota Department of Agriculture and Natural Resources Secretary Hunter Roberts. “It’s a time to honor our history, celebrate our freedoms, and display our patriotism.”
