Estelle M. Henrich, 95, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Sunday, March 8, 2026 at Touchmark at All Saints in Sioux Falls. Inurnment will be at a later date in Iowa.
Estelle M. Henrich was born on September 26, 1930, to Dolorosa (Eulberg) and John Henrich in Alton, Iowa. She attended St. Mary’s Academy and graduated in 1948. She continued her education at Briar Cliff College, Iowa Teachers College, and the State University of Iowa, where she earned both bachelor’s and master’s degrees.
Estelle taught in Iowa for four years before moving to New York, where she taught in New York City and on Long Island for 32 years. She resided in New York from 1961 until 2017, when she moved to South Dakota.
She served on the board of the Folk Music Society for 39 years and, following her retirement, was a docent at the Nassau County Museum of Art. Estelle was a long-time member of the Unitarian Universalist Congregation at Shelter Rock in Manhasset, where she also volunteered her time serving meals in New York City shelters.\She is survived by her sister, Rosemary Iddings; her stepbrother, Tom (Charlene) Braun; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Arthur Braun; her brother, Robert Henrich; her sister, Dolores Pfaffle; her stepbrothers, Leo Braun and Arthur Braun; her stepsisters, RoseMary Ortmann, Margaret Schreier, and Kathleen Delperdang; and many brothers- and sisters-in-law.
