Drug, machine gun runner gets lengthy federal prison sentence

Man oversaw meth, fentanyl network that trafficked drugs from Denver to western South Dakota

A Denver, Colorado, man who orchestrated a major illegal drug operation in western South Dakota including the use of automatic weapons could end up spending the rest of his life in prison.

U.S. District Judge Karen Schreier sentenced Juan Sertuche to 45 years in prison, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced Wednesday. Sertuche, 43, received a 40-year sentence on charges of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Schreier tacked on another five years for federal firearms violations.

The sentences will be served consecutively. He will also be required to serve five years of supervised release upon the completion of his prison sentences.
