Dorothy Eide, 100, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 11, 2026, while surrounded by attentive and loving care at Dougherty Hospice.
Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Sunday, January 18, 2026, at 1:30 p.m. Following the service, the family warmly invites all who attend to remain for a light lunch and time of fellowship.
Dorothy Lucille (Miller) Eide was born on June 24, 1925, in Grygla, Minnesota, to Albert and Myrna Miller. She attended high school in Goodridge and Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls, graduating in 1943.
She was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart in 1947 in Thief River Falls after working several years in Minneapolis. Her husband, Vern, attended the University of Minnesota.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Bruce Eide and Brian (Audra) Eide; one daughter, Lisa (Bill) Coughlin; and five grandsons, Michael (Valerie), Scot (Jessica), Eric, Brandon (Ariel), and Paul (Amanda). She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren.
In celebration of Dorothy’s 100th birthday, Larry Rhoden, Governor of the State of South Dakota, proclaimed June 24, 2025, as Dorothy Eide Day.
Memorials may be directed to Feeding South Dakota or Dougherty Hospice House.
