DOJ: Farmers' crop failures weren't a case of bad luck
Father, son accused of defrauding government programs
James and Levi Garrett were having a bad run.
In 2017, the Sully County farmers lost a soybean crop to drought.
In 2018, their sunflowers were flattened in a freak hailstorm.
The next year, their corn crop was lost.
And in 2020, their sunflowers froze.
Lucky for them, they had crop insurance.
Then came the Covid pandemic.
