Ten thousand or more will honor Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Deputy Katherine Ann Frank at the fallen police officer's funeral service Monday.
Mourners are expected to line the procession route from the funeral home to the Denny Sanford Premier Center as the Sioux Falls area and greater law enforcement community continue to cope with the death of the 26-year-old. Frank was two years into her policing career when she died at a Sioux Falls hospital on Oct. 12, three days after being shot during an altercation at a home in western Sioux Falls.
Frank’s accused killer — Brandon Oetken, 39 — also faces attempted murder charges tied to the presence of two other deputies with Frank as they attempted to serve a mental health hold order on Oetken, according to authorities.
