Department of Justice awards S.D. Bar Foundation for commitment to rural law
Bar looking to enhance program that assists rural attorneys and their communities
The Department of Justice announced Monday that the South Dakota Bar Foundation is a winner of its Access to Justice Prize Competition in recognition of the foundation’s work brining justice to rural communities.
The foundation was one of five winners in the nationwide competition for their creativity and dedication to expand justice with “actionable approaches,” the department said.
“The department is proud to uplift the incredible work being done across the country through innovative solutions to improve access to justice for all Americans,” DOJ said in a release announcing the awards. “The Access to Justice Prize focuses on closing the rural justice gap, recognizing that rural communities face unique and significant barriers to resources and support in the legal system.”
