Decision on Sioux Falls' multi-million dollar aquatics bond delayed again
City Hall's proposed ordinance pushed back for third time, vote anticipated in 2025
A long-planned vote on a multimillion-dollar aquatic and recreation bond will be delayed until next year.
And that’s a result of the Sioux Falls City Council continuing to put its mark on City Hall’s ambitions to overhaul pool facilities at Kuehn and Frank Olson Parks.
After initially being scheduled for consideration by the council in May, the proposed financing for two brand new pool complexes got pushed back until the fall when it became clear consensus between councilors and Mayor Paul TenHaken’s administration still hadn’t been reached. And after concerns among councilors about the administration’s plan to borrow $77 million for the pools and an existing wellness center persisted over the summer, the vote didn’t happen in September, October or November either.
