Darrold L. Quam, age 80 of Sioux Falls, SD passed away Saturday, September 20, 2025. His Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Friday, September 26, 2025 at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory, Sioux Falls. Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 PM Thursday, September 25, 2025 at the funeral home. Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls.
Darrold Lester Quam was born on February 28, 1945, in Watertown, South Dakota, to Lester and Alvilda (Dickman) Quam. He proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran from 1966 to 1972. On December 19, 1970, Darrold was united in marriage to Joyce Williams, and together they raised three children, Tammy, Cindy, and David.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Darrold retired after 42 years as Superintendent with Sioux Falls Construction. Outside of work, he found joy in the outdoors and in the hobbies he loved most. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, a devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, and a collector of firearms. He also enjoyed bowling, golfing, and relaxing with a good western movie.
Above all, Darrold cherished his family. He loved his children and grandchildren deeply, and they will always remember his humor, warmth, and unwavering support.
Darrold’s life was one filled with service, dedication, and love, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
Grateful for having shared his life are his three children, Tammy Quam of Sioux Falls, SD, Cindy Quam of Kimball, SD, and David Quam of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Sydney Quam and Etana Quam, both of Sioux Falls; three great-grandchildren; his brother, Jerry (Kay) Quam of Sioux Falls, SD; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Darrold was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Alvilda (Dickman) Quam; sister, Sharon Stieb.
