Dark horse candidates emerge for men's prison site

Mitchell official says prison is 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity, but many residents are skeptical

Mitchell Mayor Jordan Hanson was just as shocked as most people were when the Project Prison Reset Task Force narrowed down its list of potential men’s prison sites Tuesday to Mitchell and Worthing.

Before that decision, a consultant group said that a previously selected site south of Harrisburg in Lincoln County was the best candidate, with Huron second.
