Minnehaha County will pull out of a statewide fund that helps counties pay for the catastrophic medical expenses of people who are indigent.

The move to end involvement with the Catastrophic County Poor Relief Program would come at the end of the calendar year. The decision by the state’s largest county to withdraw could see the program eventually unwind.
