The clock is now ticking on Sioux Falls election officials to organize a recount of the city’s two-vote mayoral election.

A written request for a recount from the second-place finisher in last week’s Sioux Falls mayoral runoff begins a countdown for the Sioux Falls City Clerk’s Office to organize a three-person panel to comb through the tens of thousands of ballots cast in the June 23 election. And the candidates also face more deadlines of their own as part of the historic exercise of municipal civics.
