Canton restores police staffing after school resource officer removal sparks outcry
Municipality reverses course after public safety position cut in November

CANTON — The Canton Police Department will be allowed to fill a vacated law enforcement position after city leaders reversed last month’s decision to cut down police staffing.
In a swift meeting lasting just 16 minutes Canton’s police chief earned the favor of three-quarters of the Canton City Commission, resulting in a vote to advertise a full-time position for a police officer.
