A Canadian man who used a rifle to shoot energy facilities in South and North Dakota pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of destruction of an energy facility.

Cameron Monte Smith appeared in Bismarck under federal detention. He’s been in custody since his arrest in July of 2023.

The Canadian faces 20 years of imprisonment on each count, one count each for the facilities in the Dakotas.
