A non-profit that was organized to address student hunger in Sioux Falls schools will match community donations in its latest fundraising effort to pay for student meals.

Hungry Hearts will match up to $100,000 raised from community donations to help students meet lunch and breakfast expenses.

“We’re just here to make sure kids eat,” Hungry Hearts’ Jesse Severson told the Sioux Falls School Board Monday night. Severson, the director of operations for Fonder Properties, was joined by Mark Fonder, who owns the Barrel House in southeastern Sioux Falls and kRav’N in southwestern Sioux Falls. The pair launched the no-profit in 2017, and by the start of this school year had raised hundreds of thousands of dollars to pay for student meals.
