Nothing new here. Whole language pushed in the Sioux Falls Schools was a disaster! Who was responsible? Similar to the farce “Britannica” math program pushed on our kids in middle school, all coming out of IPC. Luckily we were able to use Sylvan to set things straight. Who are these administrators taking our students down these false paths? Time to have this paper expose this failure.

Thanks to good old fashioned reciting of the alphabet in English (which I was just learning having come over from Norway in 1947) while in 3rd grade (PS 59 in Manhattan in 1948) I was not only able to read RL Stevenson's "Treasure Island" in due course but I found I was able to also read Norwegian by just sounding out the word syllables in my mind...

Thank you, Mrs. Grant (3rd grade) and Miss Flynn (4th grade) wherever you are!!! And nuts to you, Kenneth S. Goodman, for pushing the ridiculous and unscientific "whole word" reading method...
