New road, bridge tax coming for Brown County property owners
by Sam Schauer for The Aberdeen Insider
After a lengthy deliberation, Brown County commissioners unanimously approved a resolution establishing a new road and bridge tax.
That happened during their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 18 at the Brown County Courthouse Annex.
A resolution requires one public hearing before it is published. It will go into effect 20 days after publication if it’s not referred to a public vote.
The tax will apply to all Brown County properties at 40 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, or about $20 per $50,000 in value. All of the money will be used for road and bridge maintenance and repairs.
