Brookings lawmaker tapped to lead national tax board

A South Dakota lawmaker will head an influential national tax advocacy organization this year.
Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board, Inc. announced Friday that Sen. Tim Reed of Brookings has been elected by its members to serve as its president in 2023. Reed has been a board member of the organization that lobbies for states to implement simplified tax collection practices and assists businesses navigate the remittance process since 2017.
“We are honored to have him serve as president and look forward to his leadership in advancing both our short and long-term goals, as well as his additional ideas to further the simplification and uniformity of the sales tax systems throughout our member states,” said Craig Johnson, executive director of the Streamlined Sales Tax Governing Board.
