Board of Regents will ask Legislature to approve national defense studies program
Black Hills State, Dakota State and South Dakota Mines would collaborate to create new center, bachelor's program
The South Dakota Board of Regents will ask lawmakers to approve $1 million in ongoing funding to establish a Center for National Defense as part of its fiscal 2028 budget request.
The center would be a collaborative initiative involving Black Hills State University, Dakota State University and South Dakota Mines. It would support a new Bachelor of Science in National Defense Studies and expand educational opportunities in defense acquisition, logistics, cybersecurity, engineering and emerging technologies.
