Avera receives $35M gift, joins children's health network
Donation from B. Thomas Golisano is the largest single gift in Avera Health history
Avera Health will join a network of 14 other children’s hospitals across the United States following a $35 million gift from philanthropist B. Thomas Golisano, the hospital system announced Monday.
Golisano, the founder of Paychex Inc., a company that provides human resources services for small to medium-sized businesses, launched the Golisano Children’s Alliance in 2025. The goal of the alliance is to strengthen collaboration and expand pediatric care closer to families who need the services.
The new children’s hospital will be located in the patient care tower at Avera McKennan and will be named the Avera Golisano Children’s Hospital. The $35 million donation represents the single largest gift in Avera’s history.
