Avera pumping $21.5M into heart hospital expansion
Health system breaks ground on construction of new three-story wing at southern Sioux Falls campus
A Sioux Falls heart hospital is getting a $21.5 million boost.
Avera Heart Hospital broke ground Tuesday on a 35,000-square-foot expansion. And the three-story addition at the southern Sioux Falls medical complex marks the largest project since the heart and vascular care hub opened more than two decades ago.
“The Avera mission and Avera Heart Hospital culture are behind the growth we’re seeing in heart and vascular specialty services – attracting new physicians as well as patients,” said Mick Gibbs, the hospital’s president and CEO, who spoke at an afternoon groundbreaking ceremony at the Avera Heart Hospital’s West 69th Street campus.
