South Dakota’s top prosecutor and its leading First Amendment advocacy organization are joining forces to remind local governments of their statutory obligation to conduct the public’s business in the open.

Attorney General Marty Jackley and the South Dakota NewsMedia Association have released an updated version of the state’s Open Meetings Law Guide, reflecting new provisions enacted by the 2025 Legislature and reaffirming the state’s commitment to transparency in government.
