Ardis A. Croon, 85, of Sioux Falls, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2026 at Palisades Healthcare in Garretson. Her funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 30, 2026 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home in Dell Rapids. Visitation will be one hour prior to the start of the service. Interment will be in the Colman Cemetery.
Ardis Ann Croon was born on March 12, 1941 at Chester, SD, the daughter of Kenneth and Laura (Thiele) Croon. She attended Gale Ridge Country School near Colman, Colman Elementary School and graduated from Colman High School. During the mid-1970’s she owned and operated the Coffee Cup Cafe in Colman. She then worked in the Dietary Department at the Dell Rapids Hospital until working in the Dietary Department at Orchard Hills. She retired in 2008. In 2021, she moved to Sioux Falls with her daughter. In January of 2026, she became a resident of Palisades Healthcare in Garretson.
Ardis was a member of the Chester Lutheran Church, the Colman Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids. Ardis loved to travel with her daughter, Cheri. They traveled to several different destinations including Hawaii, Jamaica, and Mexico.
She is preceded in death by her grandparents, Onnie and Mildred Croon and Fred and Anna Thiele and her parents, Kenneth and Laura Croon.
She is survived by her daughter, Cheri Croon of Sioux Falls; her brother, Gary (Linda) Croon of Dell Rapids; her nieces, Amy (Jim) Stegge of Stewartville, MN and Nicole (Mike) Peyton of Brandon; her great- nephews, Dayne (Sydney Pelletier) Peyton and Ty (Jaida Metzger) Peyton; her great-niece, Kyndall Peyton and several cousins.
