Addiction recovery highlighted with annual March into the Light
Face It TOGETHER celebrates 15 years
Face It TOGETHER hosted its annual event, March Into the Light, to celebrate addiction recovery Saturday in downtown Sioux Falls.
Held each September during National Recovery Month, March Into the Light rallies the community around addiction wellness, and in Sioux Falls, participants heard inspiring stories like Jeremy Reimer’s, who found hope and strength after 25 years of alcohol addiction.
Reimer has attended March Into the Light the past two years and was excited to tell his story this year, sharing the journey that led him to Face It TOGETHER, including the day he survived that nearly cost him everything. He overcame a 25-year drinking cycle alongside his family and peer coach, Terri.
“It’s one of the best things I’ve ever done in my life and it’s one of the hardest things I’ve had to do,” he said. “It’s not easy to get sober and stay sober. It’s a long journey, but the best things in life to do sometimes are not easy.”
This year’s March Into the Light event included a free continental breakfast and a short sunrise walk and was attended by various local treatment organizations that brought their clients to the free event.
“As we celebrate our 15th year providing life-saving care, it’s our honor to share stories and hope for recovery at March Into the Light,” said Wendy White, CEO of Face It TOGETHER. “Walking into the sunrise during National Recovery Month is an incredible way to celebrate wellness and remind each other that no one is alone.”
