2024: Extreme weather in South Dakota and Sioux Falls
State back in drought after escaping in the spring
For a brief period in 2024, the skies opened up over southeastern South Dakota.
During a three-week period in June, the Sioux Falls area got deluged. The month ended with more than 11 inches of precipitation. The normal amount of rain would have been 4.23 inches.
And then, it got hot. And dried out. And continued to dry out.
And continues to dry out.
