$15M Bezos grant advances quarry transformation at Falls Park
Sioux Falls councilors accept award from Amazon founder’s nonprofit organization
A $15 million grant tied to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos will help South Dakota’s largest city bring a long-dormant quartzite quarry into the Falls Park campus.
The Sioux Falls City Council on Wednesday unanimously approved a series of resolutions and budget amendments allowing the Parks and Recreation Department to accept the three-phased contribution coming from the Bezos Earth Fund, a Bezos-founded philanthropic organization that works to fund climate change and nature preservation projects.
