A small town in southeast South Dakota is getting a new hospital after nearly a decade of planning.

Freeman Regional Health Services has broken ground on a new hospital and clinic campus along Highway 81 in Hutchinson County.

“We are grateful for the people and partners who are helping make this project possible as we strengthen healthcare for our communities,” FRHS CEO Courtney Unruh said ahead of a ceremonial groundbreaking at the 40-acre site on Freeman's eastern outskirts.

“This journey has been guided by prayer, perseverance and a shared commitment to keeping quality care close to home. God’s timing is perfect, and we give God the glory.”
