I'd hope for better from this outlet. Giving a platform to people claiming the outrageous things Ms. Woods claims is irresponsible. Saying that public schools are providing leftist indoctrnation and there's a need to dismantle the marxist ideology kids get at school is absurd. And if Ms. Woods knew anything about socialism, as she claims parents must these days, she'd have to admit our country offers that type thing to corporations much more than it does to individuals...but I'm sure that's A-ok with most folks like her.

Schools are NOT indoctrinating our kids. If you are concerned about your kids being exposed to ideas you don't agree with then take away their i-phones and computers. Children have access to a lot of information in this world. Someday; however, your children will grow up and be exposed to things and people that you 'don't approve' of. They will find that people of different races, religions and sexual identities are actually really nice people and not the monsters you make them out to be. Then they will wonder what else you lied to them about. How sad that the Dakotah Scout gives this person a platform to spread misinformation.

Beginning with a false premise - indoctrination of children in our school systems - and using a jargon term - woke - as a platform to rally folks to the ‘cause’ Woods builds a house of cards under a banner of truth. But when the initial premise is false, all that follows is worthless babble, and certainly not truth. What Woods really wants to do is substitute her own ideologic indoctrination for real education that recognizes a world far broader than her narrow views permit.

Ms. Woods must go through a lot of tin foil.

Interesting, also disheartening....to take a term, 'woke', and demonize it. You want facts, then let's look at the definition from Meriam Webster:

Nov 13, 2023 — The meaning of WOKE is aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social ..

Secondly, I see no examples of indoctrination in our schools. Please give proof of your accusations.

Thirdly, I'd like to know how you explain LGBTQ issues to your children; are they real issues or are they just asking for attention?

Do you want to ban books also??

"Everywhere we turn, the LGBTQ+ agenda and Marxism is being shoved down our children’s throats." Where is this occurring exactly in South Dakota, especially West River SD? (I've lived in Spearfish, Yankton, Sioux Falls, and Brookings, and all I see and hear is rabid conservatism alienating and driving away next generations.) Every other sentence in this Viewpoint is fear and panic, spectres of "a terrifying world", and she articulates true indoctrination techniques she wants to see - "get to children first", "experts on everything", and listening to Ben Shapiro and The Daily Wire. Sheesh. This is a sad, scared, and ignorant way to raise children. At the heart of it, a conservative like Woods cannot stand the idea of real freedoms and choice, of education and mutual respect that acknowledges differences. Raising an educated and respectful child does not mean trying to create your scared little mini-me. Ask any older parent - the best approach of raising kids is being the exemplary and respectful adult, not the scared victim this parent embodies.

thank you so much for publishing this article. It is definitely a topic that must be addressed and supported.

What exactly needs to be addressed? She gave no examples, no proof of any of her claims.

“If we don’t teach them that it’s impossible for a boy to become a girl, someone else will convince them otherwise.” You have got to be kidding. This is the most absurd statement to date. I’d advise these delusional women to spend some time in an actual public school. Maybe then they wouldn’t appear so delusional and ignorant.

Wonder what Ms. Woods would recommend/sjuggest to a person born in South Dakota with ambiguous genitalia?...

I'm interested what exactly is the proven incidence of this?

An anti-Marxist picture book😂

“Our research found 18 babies with ambiguous genitalia among 14,177 newborns (1.3 in 1,000 births). This frequency is higher when compared to previous studies (1 in 4,500-5,500),” said the study’s first author, Banu Kucukemre Aydin, M.D., of Istanbul University in Turkey. “Many previous studies used registries with a low capture rate, but our study was done prospectively. Also, most of the published data is coming from Western countries in which consanguinity rates are lower than our country.”

Researchers examined 14,177 newborns and found 18 of them had ambiguous genitalia. Fifteen newborns were diagnosed with 46,XY DSD, which occurs in male infants when the body can’t use testosterone properly or the testicles do not develop properly. Birth weight was lower in babies with 46, XY DSD than healthy babies, and preeclampsia was a common condition in those pregnancies.

“These findings support the hypothesis that early placental dysfunction and androgen deficiency might be important in the etiology of male genital anomalies,” Aydin said.

Now THIS is a “viewpoint” worth reading and I’m glad to see Dakota Scout sharing this. Carolyn is spot-on that our kids today are surrounded by left-wing “woke” ideology that is really nonsensical most of the time...and it’s up to us as parents to ensure our kids are properly prepared for what’s going to come at them day in and day out. Thank you Dakota Scout and thank you Carolyn for being an outspoken advocate for our kids (our future!).

Transgressives always play the "IT'S NOT HAPPENING" game until such a time when they are authorized by the powers-that-be to pivot directly to "IT'S GOOD & MUST BE PROMOTED!".

Problem is, this country is now split into 2 groups: Those who support Transing children, & Normal people.

SD is a Red state. For those who hate that fact please move to Minnesota.

It's not that far!
