Great overview and presentation by Megan Eisenvoss . How we treat and serve our children is essentially how we build our future as a community , state , and nation .
“Student lunch debt crisis.” “Child care shortage crisis” “Senior care crisis” “rural healthcare crisis” until South Dakota voters stop voting for the same rubber stamps nothing will get better and everything will get worse. But hey, our governor was on the side of a NASCAR! 🚗 💰 🔥
"If signed into law, SB 72 would raise the yearly cap on the amount of money that insurance companies are able to contribute to private school scholarship funds. A law passed by the legislature in 2016 allows insurance companies to get tax credits for giving money to the program.
Both Sens. Jim Stalzer and Lee Schoenbeck, champions of the legislation who helped to create the program in 2016, says that upping the total amount of money available from $3.5 million to $5 million will benefit both taxpayers and low-income families." The Dakota Scout, Austin Goss, 1-16-24
Looks like our legislature can find money for causes when they want too. Why couldn't a program like this (or even this program) be used to create funds for free meals and for child care programs? I still don't understand why it is for just "insurance companies" but I'm sure there are other industries that would be in to get tax credit for their contributions.

Excellent.
I'm impressed. The debate on this will be interesting. Who can argue against feeding children?
A bill supported by 3 Dem lawmakers will not pass. You need GOP support.
Yes, but GOP support is like taking poison.
