The city of Sioux Falls is on the hunt for land to relocate its public transit headquarters.

And an eventual move could open up the next era of development for an already booming downtown.

Sioux Area Metro, the city’s privately managed public busing system, has since the 1980s operated out of its current digs at 500 E 6th St. But the agency and its 87 employees have outgrown the 41,000-square-foot building that houses the bus barn, a maintenance shop and management and staff offices.
