'Taxed right out of their house': South Dakota lawmakers not giving up on property tax relief

Legislators want summer study after another year passes without reform

PIERRE — Another round of lawmaking has concluded in South Dakota without property tax relief.

And while this reality is disappointing to a handful of legislators who have been advocating for property tax reform in recent years, they are not giving up.

Black Hills Reps. Trish Ladner and Dennis Krull, as well as Sen. Jack Kolbeck of Sioux Falls, are asking the Legislature's Executive Board to consider establishing a task force that would spend the summer vetting potential options to lessen tax burdens on homeowners.
