Supreme Court rescinds judicial emergency after power restored
Internet, phone service, state radio back online after 36-hour outage
The South Dakota Supreme Court rescinded its judicial emergency Thursday after officials were able to get most of the state’s networking systems operational.
Those systems had been down for about 36 hours following a power outage at the State Data Center.
“The Court rescinded the judicial emergency ordered on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2025, after carefully monitoring current circumstances related to a large-scale technical issue which impacted the State of South Dakota network,” the Unified Judicial System said in a press release Thursday morning. “During the judicial emergency, all deadlines, time schedules, due dates and filing requirements imposed by applicable statutes, rules and court orders were suspended retroactive to Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2025.”
