Space crunch has Minnehaha County retrofitting vault into offices
Commission likely to budget for immediate adjustments while longterm campus planning underway
Old, unused jail space won’t be much help as Minnehaha County Commissioners face more than $1.3 million in projected space needs for its government employees.
The Commission on Tuesday heard from its Facilities and Construction division that it will need to consider another round of funding for space enhancements, modifications, or renovations as it enters the next round of budget planning — a result of burgeoning demands stressing county government departments, specifically the public advocate’s office, Health and Human Services, and its public defender operations.
