South Dakota traffic regulators hold line at 55 mph on crash-heavy corridor

A rash of crashes near a Sioux Falls-area high school aren’t enough to reduce speed limits on the state highway where collisions have become increasingly common this fall.

South Dakota transportation regulators on Tuesday rejected a proposed rule change to slow traffic on Highway 115 near Harrisburg High School, voting 9-0 to keep the existing 55 mph speed limit.
