Sioux Falls School District to be led by local teacher, administrator
After community feedback, the School Board plans to hire superintendent with ties to the district and its people
The Sioux Falls School District will be led by a homegrown superintendent who has three decades of experience teaching and in administration in the city.
School Board President Carly Reiter announced Monday that the board expects to pick Assistant Superintendent James Nold to get promoted as the chief administrator of the district. Nold would take the helm July 1 when current Superintendent Jane Stavem departs.
The selection process was a departure from the previous two superintendent searches. The board cast a wide net to recruit national candidates in those searches. This time, the board hired a consultant who then engaged the community in a questionnaire about priorities. The survey generated 2,300 responses and 72 pages of comments, Reiter said.
