Silencer Central among businesses receiving economic development funds
Governor's Office announces funding for businesses across state
A firearms accessory company in Sioux Falls that has seen rapid expansion in the last 10 years is among a group of businesses awarded millions of dollars by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development, Gov. Larry Rhoden’s office announced Wednesday.
Silencer Central will receive a $5 million REDI loan to help the gun suppresser company finance equipment in its new 63,000-square-foot facility. The money will help the company improve its operational efficiency, Rhoden’s office said, by implementing an automated warehouse system.
South Dakota governors have historically been friendly to the gun industry, encouraging its expansion into the state through either expansion of existing businesses or wooing out-of-state businesses that are in states less friendly to the industry.
