Sea-inspired adhesive shows promise for recovery - particularly athletes prone to common sports injuries
Scientists in South Dakota are developing a sea-inspired medical technology that could help athletes with some of the most common sports injuries stay off the operating table.
And the so-called “smart glue” that fuses torn ligaments and tendons together could revolutionize the world of sports medicine.
“This glue is safe for living cells and creates a stronger bond between torn tissues,” said Solaiman Tarafder, an assistant professor at South Dakota State University’s mechanical engineering department who’s led the research at the Brookings school to create a bioadhesive designed to hold human fibrous connective tissues together.
