Watertown’s Lake Kampeska is the latest body of water to fall victim to the scourge of an invasive aquatic plant known as curly leaf pondweed, reports The Watertown Current. The lake was found to be infested with zebra mussels in 2020, another invasive species that threatens natural habitat.
About two dozen bodies of water in South Dakota have been found with curly leaf pondweed, according to Tanner Davis, the aquatic invasive species coordinator for South Dakota Game Fish & Parks.
