In Hollywood, credits are a big deal. It’s often said, “you are only as good as your last credit.” People work long hours for poor wages if the project promises to be noteworthy and includes a credit. Warner Brothers Discovery’s reconfigured HBO (now known as MAX) lumped film directors, writers and producers under a single “creators” heading and created a firestorm from filmmakers and the directors and writers guilds. Quickly backpedaling, WBD blamed the issue on a technical “oversight.” I wonder what the excuse is for networks compressing and speeding up film credits?
