FX network has announced the upcoming season six of the quirky What We Do In the Shadows comedy will be its last. Season five concluded in August. The show has garnered 21 Emmy nominations and one win during the first four seasons. I have watched a few of the episodes, but the directorial choice of using a handheld camera that was constantly moving coupled with quick cuts turned me off more than the lame comedy. It seemed that story telling was being subjugated to fancy technical work.

Over at Starz another comedy has seen the end with the announcement that the second season of Shining Vale is its last. The series starred Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear and Mira Sorvino. Its last episode aired Dec. 1 and the show will vanish from the streaming library at the end of December.
As expected, Creative Artists Agency (CAA) and Disney have filed a reply to Julia Ormond’s suit alleging the entities knew convicted sex offender Harvey Weinstein was assaulting women but failed to protect her. In Los Angeles Superior Court filings, the companies say it wasn’t their job to supervise Weinstein, and that the only alleged behavior they were aware of was his propositioning Mia Kirshner a year before Ormond claims she was attacked. CAA claims that Kirshner’s experience wasn’t analogous to Ormond’s claim of assault and, besides, Kirshner’s agent didn’t mention the incident to Ormond’s agent. Not My Job…
