Priscilla Landsman, age 95 of Centerville, was called home to her Savior on December 24, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.
Priscilla Ann (Peterson) Landsman was born July 3, 1930 in Washburn, North Dakota, to Ellsworth and Ida (Oakland) Peterson. Her early years took her from Washburn to Lewisburg and Nashville, Tennessee, before calling Centerville, South Dakota home in
1944. Priscilla worked at Burns Market after graduating from Centerville High School in
1948. She later attended Southern State Teachers College in Springfield, then went on to teach rural school north of Centerville for two years.
On October 14, 1953, she married Richard (Dick) Landsman at Scandia Lutheran Church.
After residing in San Diego during Dick’s Navy years, they returned to Centerville to make their home on the family farm, where they raised their two daughters, Joni and Kathy. She and Dick shared 67 years of marriage before his passing in 2020, building a life rooted in faith, hard work and unconditional love. Together they enjoyed traveling, visiting all but two of the United States. Winters were spent in Pharr, Texas, soaking up sunshine, while summers were filled with days at Swan Lake, camping trips, peaceful fishing along the river, and time well spent together.
Priscilla lived a long and beautiful life marked by grace, generosity and devotion to the people and places she cherished most. She was a lifelong member of Scandia Lutheran Church, a member the American Legion Auxiliary and Order of the Eastern Star. Her door was always open, coffee was always on, and no one ever left her house hungry. She is remembered for her sugar cookies, sponge candy and famous margaritas.
As her health declined, Priscilla and Dick moved from their acreage to Dow Rummel Village in 2018, and later to Centerville Care and Rehab Center for their final years. Though Alzheimer’s slowly took her memory, it never dimmed the warmth of her smile or the deep love she held for her family. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched and the family who loves her dearly.
Priscilla is preceded in death by her husband, Richard (Dick) Landsman; her parents, Ellsworth and Ida Peterson; her in-laws, Ralph and Lillian Landsman; brother, Doyle (Buddy) Peterson; sister, Eldonna Bartlett; sisters-in-law, Claire Peterson Jacobsen, and Donna Landsman; and brothers-in-law, Noble Nelson Jr., Ronnie Bartlett, and Boyd Landsman.
