A federal judge has ordered a Valley Springs construction company to court after the U.S. Department of Labor accused the company of ignoring its demands in a labor investigation.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Veronica Duffy has ordered Stone Hill Excavation to appear in the Sioux Falls Federal Courthouse on March 10. The investigation into Stone Hill started in July after the Occupational Safety and Health Administration received a complaint from a former employee who alleged the company fired him after he was hurt while on the job.

On July 30, an OSHA whistleblower investigator, Sara Penney, notified the company that it was investigating the former employee’s complaints. Penney asked the company to respond to the allegations.
