Future 'One Stops' would require legislative consent under measure endorsed by state Legislature
PIERRE — Lawmakers are looking for answers this session after questionable taxpayer spending during former Gov. Kristi Noem’s administration.
They may be starting to find solutions for future administrations, as the state House unanimously advanced Senate Bill 145 to Gov. Larry Rhoden for final approval.
The bill would require legislative approval for lease contracts that are either 15 years or longer, exceed $5 million in total rent payments over the lease term, or cost more than $50,000 per month.
