Nation's Attorneys General to descend on Deadwood
Black Hills city to host organization's meeting in October
Dozens of state Attorneys General from across the United States will descend on Deadwood this fall.
Attorney General Marty Jackley announced Monday that the Attorney General Alliance (AGA) will host a meeting of the state’s top law enforcement officers in Lawrence County on Oct. 22-25.
According to their website, the alliance is a coalition of Attorneys General, federal, state, and foreign officials, and public and private sector partners throughout the world that work together in an attempt to address complex issues in law and policy.

The AGA hosts a handful of meetings through the United States on a yearly basis - with most of their meetings focused on topics of interest that are changing field of the law and the administration of justice by extension. Just this year, they’ve hosted meetings with focus on subjects such as artificial intelligence and protecting children, and human trafficking.
Discussions while in Deadwood will cover topics like cybersecurity, human trafficking again, organized retail crime, sports betting and online gambling, mental health initiatives, and cannabis law.
“While there are different challenges for each state, we have a common interest in working together to protect our states and our citizens,” said Jackley. “I am honored to host this group in South Dakota as we look for common sense solutions.”
Jackley is the immediate past chairman of AGA. He recently handed the reins off to Nevada Attorney General Aaron Ford.
48 states plus the District of Columbia are members of the AGA, with the exceptions of Tennessee and Wisconsin.
