State lawmakers want South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem to go farther to stop minors from receiving cross-sex hormone therapy.

But this time, the lawmakers calling for action aren’t from the Mount Rushmore State.

In a letter sent to Noem and the governor’s office earlier this month, 24 Republicans serving in the Minnesota legislature called on the governor to “issue a public statement to the effect that penalties will be imposed against anyone participating” in transporting South Dakota minors to Minnesota for “gender-reassignment surgery.”

Senator Eric Lucero, a Republican representing a district northwest of Minneapolis, spearheaded the effort.
