Meet the Candidate: Julie Auch
Yankton area lawmaker running for reelection to House
Rep. Julie Auch is seeking re-election to the South Dakota House in District 18. She faces incumbent lawmaker Mike Stevens and John Marquardt for two available seats in the June primary.
The district is in the southeast corner of South Dakota, and its largest community is Yankton.
The Dakota Scout sent a series of questions to all legislative candidates running in contested races for the state House and Senate in the June 4 primary election. Candidates were asked to limit their responses to each question to 150 words or less.

1) What's the government's role in facilitating economic development in South Dakota?
I believe true Economic Development is amongst our small businesses and industry in our neighborhoods. By helping them expand and increase their production. We are building our neighborhoods and communities at a pace that is in harmony with our local communities. Not mandated or controlled by the State or Federal Government.
2) If you could have dinner with any person, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Today, I would love to have a peaceful, quiet dinner with my husband of 37 years, he is my rock and my safety here and now. I have a long list of others I would love to have dinner with someday, but today it is my husband Gary.Â
3) Does the "Landowner Bill of Rights" -- adopted by the Legislature amid opposition to carbon pipeline companies using eminent domain -- strike the right balance between the interests of property owners, counties and the ag industry - and should voters get a say when they head to the polls in November?
Senate Bill 201; is a FAKE "landowner bill of rights" this legislation passed this session is and if not overturned by the voters in November, is in contravention of South Dakota's Constitution, is injurious to the rights, safety, and wellbeing of the people of South Dakota, and for that reason should be on the ballot and decided by the people of South Dakota. Once we as legislators take private property rights for private gain we have sold out South Dakota and her people.Â
