The article in your edition for July 27-Aug. 2, 2023, is very disappointing, but what else can we expect from Sen. John Thune and Rep. Dusty Johnson? Your headline “Thune, Johnson want answers in Biden probe” is another example of deny and defect of all the indictments and impeachments of Donald Trump.

Thank You Darrell Solberg for this timely letter! Truer words have never been spoken; so simply and to the point as any critique of our current GOP Republicans -both statewide and nationally. Like the herd of elephants they are- lockstep like lemmings over a cliff following their "Pied Piper" Trump over the cliff. Big ears but small brains; all brawn no backbone to do what's right and dump this guy in the ditch now, the sooner the better. Mesmerized by his con-artistry they throw their hard-earned $$$ to his efforts to continue lying to us all and delaying to face the justice system he so fears but portends to blame everything on his rival, Joe Biden. Darrell, your words regarding the Thune/Johnson (one also must include Rounds!) voting against EVERYTHING Biden's brought forth to help the middle-class expand/succeed only to claim personal GOP party credit when the people appreciate what those programs are doing is about as hypocritical as it can get. They so remind me of luscious, green grass in the summer flowing through the 4 stomachs of range cows and being explosively deposited on the asphalt of a well-traveled road.

When you drive on better highways, cross more bridges safely, fuel your car up with less costly fuel and watch other inflation factors recede (yes-more can and will be done in this area) and see the lessening of southern border problems and the richest classes in America paying a more fair share of the costs of our society-you can thank the Biden Admin and democrats that got it all done with NO-absolutely none of the GOP supporting the. The GOP is the party of NO compromise, NOT caring what their inactions have done to the USA and following as a leader that would con you out of your soiled underwear, given a chance to!
Thune does not now, nor ever has, supported President Trump. He probably still considers him guilty of Russian collusion because he is so quick to believe the worst about Trump. Thune is a RINO snd the sooner SD figures it out the better. I would expect our elected SD Republicans to support the GOP efforts to find out and disclose the truth about President Biden’s crime family. Instead they sit back and do nothing to keep their hands clean and their options open.
